Hello, I’m Veda Kinney, an abstract and mixed media artist who graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design. I work out of my studio in the home that my husband and I designed and built in rural, Newark, Ohio where we have raised our three children.

As a result of teaching faux painting techniques while working as a decorating consultant at my local paint store, I began incorporating these techniques into my paintings. I discovered that by layering transparent glazes into my paintings, I could achieve some interesting depth in my art.

In addition, my years of searching through wallpaper books prompted me to experiment with adding collage elements and texture to my art. I also used these soft faux painting techniques achieved through color washing in the backgrounds of murals for children’s rooms while doing commissions for a local designer.

Throughout my over thirty five years of experience working with clients, making design and color choices for their homes, I developed a passion to create art that will complete your space in a way that incorporates texture, pattern, and color that can work as a perfect complement to your space.

Do you desire to have a piece of art that allows you to love the space you live in; where you can just let a piece of art transform you to a place of comfort and where you just want to sit and stay for a while and enjoy the atmosphere? I care about the way my art makes you feel in your home. This is why I create art, so that you can get a deep emotional feeling of satisfaction enjoying the environment where you call home.

Whether you are looking for that custom piece, or something from my collection of art that your walls desire, you will find that special piece that resonates and completes the look you are after.

My mural art has been featured in a local ice cream parlor in a nearby college town and a church sanctuary, as well as many local homes. I have also created several custom pieces of art for client’s homes. Some of my art was previously displayed and sold in my former art and home decor shop in Dresden, Ohio

A Meaningful Name: I was named after a grandmother that I never got to meet. I learned early on from family members that she was very creative. I have always had a need and desire to create and incorporate art into my life. After hearing stories throughout my adult life about her talented ways, I consider it a privilege and honor to share her name and have her creative blood running through my veins.

Faith and Family: Besides the need to create art, my faith in God and my love for my family are at the core of my being.

My Studio Companion: Sometimes you will find my goldendoodle Willow hanging out with me in my studio.
